SRBCL first grader Christian Judge J. Decano and third grader Matthew Jose R. Serafica did their families and the whole SRBCL school community proud with their medal winning performance during the Bawingan Karate Cup held in Baguio City last July 12, Sunday.
Despite being a relative new comer to the sport, red and white belter Decano turned in an exceptional performance in both his events. Six- year old Christian won the gold medal in the Boys Kumite (Age 6-7 year old division) and the silver medal in the Boys Kata (Age 6-7 year old division).
Eight year old green belter Serafica won bronze medals for both his events in Kata and Kumite (Age 8 – 9 years old).
The karate meet was part of the of anniversary celebration of the Shin Shin Karate Organization in cooperation with YMCA Baguio. The meet is in memory of William Bawingan, the founder of the Shin Shin Karate Organization.
Both Decano and Serafica are flourishing under the expert tutelage of Dr. Enrico Vasquez, a master of Wado-Ryu Philippines and of course, the support of their parents, families, the school, and friends.
