More About Us

MISSION STATEMENT:

Our mission statement is what binds us all together. It gives us our common vision and guides all that we say and do.

SRBCL celebrates the intellectual curiosity, creativity and spirit of children.

Through meaningful activities and school environment, we create opportunities which spark each child’s love of learning and innate wisdom. Valuing the whole child, we encourage independence and self-motivation, foster constructive social skills, guide academic development and offer opportunities for effective, thoughtful leadership.

SRBCL is committed to being a diverse, caring, safe community in which children, their families and our faculty and staff demonstrate mutual respect and responsibility within and beyond the classroom.

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY:

The foundation of our philosophy is that every child has worth and dignity.

WE BELIEVE…

  • children are entitled to a high-quality, well rounded education which maximizes their potential.
  • children’s self-esteem, sense of wonder and joy of learning will be fostered through the learning process.
  • life-long desires for learning and service will be instilled and cultivated.
  • personal and social development, as well as academic achievement, will be fostered by teachers through an active learning process.
  • children will receive a strong foundation in the arts and sciences, including oral and written communication, artistic expression, problem-solving techniques, mathematical concepts, use of technology, and critical and creative thinking.
  • decision- making skills and the application of learning to situations outside the classroom are importantfor learning.
  • learning experiences will be active and connected to the other areas of the curriculum and to prior learning and life experiences.
  • a balance of cooperation, competition, and individual achievement in the school environment will enhance children’s development.
  • children will be prepared for effective participation as future citizens of our democratic society and of a multicultural world community.
  • an active partnership of the school, the family, and the community is vital to our educational system.

The Badge Logo

The torch in the right-hand field symbolizes the school’s goal to give the child guidance, and enlightenment.

The book in the center stands for the knowledge the school hopes to impart to each and every participant, whether child or adult, in the SRBCL experience.

The sword stands for the strength and courage SRBCL hopes to equip their students – an independence of mind and the courage to face the consequences of one’s actions or decisions.

Blue, the adopted school color is represented in stripes on the left hand field. The color represents loyalty.

The Mascot

The Blue Cardinal is the official mascot of SRBCL.

The school mascot is that of a cardinal bird to allude to the prestigious position St. Robert Bellarmine held in the Catholic Church.

Though in actuality red in color, the school mascot is made to carry the school color of blue. Hence the name “BLUE CARDINAL.”

A cardinal or redbird is a songbird predominantly found in North and South America. It is usually 8- 9 inches long in size. It is the male of the species that has a bright red plumage and a sharp, pointed crest of feathers on its head.
