100% Success Rate at the PSHS Entrance Examinations

This year, SRBCL scored a 100% passing rate in the recently held competitive examinations for entrance at the Philippine Science High School.  First reported to pass was Stefi Mae D. Foronda and now, Nikolle Ann D. Fernandez was belatedly relayed to have also passed said examinations.

The pupils’ parents, teachers and school administration are understandably very proud of their achievement.

Nikolle is this school year’s lone Gold Loyalty Awardee in the upcoming Moving- Up Day. Her learning journey with SRBCL began during her Nursery preschool year, SY 2002- 2003. She is the daughter of Mr. Raphael and Mrs. Karen D. Fernandez.

To Stefi and Nikolle, you make us very proud!

Indoor Camp 2011

The Grades IV- VI pupils had their annual Indoor Camp last February 11- 12, Friday to Saturday. There were 25 participants this school year, six from the Grade IV, twelve from the Grade V and seven from the Grade VI. As in past years, all the intermediate level pupils along with most of the faculty spend a whole day together, doing chores and most of all having great fun. Though meant to extend the children’s lessons in the different subject areas, it also gives the children time to bond not only among themselves but with their teachers as well.

Camp officially started at 3:00 PM Friday afternoon, starting slow with most of the kids enjoying a game of tag while the rest updated Facebook accounts. With all the minor chores easily done, the campers enjoyed fun rounds of Pinoy Henyo and charades. A leisurely calesa ride around the Dagupan downtown area rounded up the early evening activities before the campers enjoyed a hearty dinner together.

Despite lights out, it took some time before everybody really got down to sleeping even if the next day promised to start early. Waking up well before the 5:00 AM wake-up call, the campers were on their way to Lingayen before 6:00 AM. After their stretching exercises and laps around the track at the Don Narciso Ramos Sports Stadium, the group headed for the beach area where breakfast was waiting for them. Given only a few minutes rest, the campers readied themselves for a grueling 45 minutes of fun – the Amazing Race SRBCL Indoor Camp Edition, Season 1! Four teams of five members each roamed the Capitol grounds, following clue after clue which had them running, digging, jumping, counting, and thinking. The Yellow team composed of Izeiah Medalle (VI), Bryle Lopez (VI), Ggyn Agabayani (V), William Eden (IV) and Quennie Estrada (IV) was the first team to arrive at the final pit stop. The second team to complete the course was the Green Team followed by the Blue Team and finally, the Red Team. Win or lose, there was no doubt that everybody enjoyed the race.

A brief snack and tour around the impressive Capitol Building and the grand Sison Auditorium, the group headed for their last Lingayen destination, the Capitol Resort Hotel.  Some of the children enjoyed a refreshing dip in the pool while the others used the time to stroll, stretch and rest.

Before long it was time to head back to SRBCL after a brief lunch at Jollibee Lucao. Camp officially ended for everybody by 4:00 in the afternoon.

This year’s campers were, from the Grade IV: Luisita Kimberly Barrozo, Mary Angeli Castro, William Charles Federico Eden, Queenie Chelsea Estrada, Cris Adrian Laforteza and Jose Andre Santiago.
