SRBCL held a week-long celebration of the national language last August 23 – 27. This year’s theme was chosen from one of the four themes proposed by the DepEd, which was “Ang Pagpapahalaga sa Wika at Pangangalaga sa Kalikasan ay Pagmamahal sa Bayan.”
The week started with the four-day talipapa or tienda of the grade school. The pupils sold native products and delicacies, the profit from which will be their class fund. The pupils gladly took turns minding their booth or going around with their bilaos hawking their wares.
A contest for the Grades IV – VI was also held where the pupils were asked to illustrate their understanding of the celebration’s theme. Four winners were chosen from the group, namely: Ggyn A. Agbayani (V), William Charles Federico U. Eden (IV), Joseph B. Gutierrez (V) and Lydia Angelika N. Platon (V). Their entries showed a comprehensive understanding of the theme and drawing skill. The four runners-up were: Mary Rose G. Aque (V), Queenie Chelzea C. Estrada (IV), Cris Adrian U. Laforteza (IV) and Jose Antonio B. Santiago (V).
A program showcasing the talents of the preschool pupils was the highlight of the week. Given merely four days to prepare their numbers, the preschoolers gamely sang and danced their hearts out for the audience comprised mainly of their parents, relatives and friends.
To round-up all the activities of the week, the grade school pupils enjoyed a whole Friday morning of Larong Pinoy, while decked out in their Filipiniana costumes. A game testing their knowledge of Sibika and Hekasi proved enjoyable but was naturally outshone by the pupils’ excitement over the galletas- eating contest and hitting the palayok/ supot.
I’ve never been much of a Valentine’s Day person, BUT it’s hard not to be one when you’re working with children. They simply looove Valentine’s! It’s probably the red color, generally the first color they learn, coupled with the heart shape which most kids seem to really like, but kids respond to Valentine’s with almost [...]
Faculty development is one of the areas where SRBCL puts a premium on. And every year, one of the activities that is never missed is the whole faculty’s “Lakbay Aral,” where a mere summer outing is extended and enriched so as to make it a learning experience in all sense of the word. This year’s [...]
Noted American author and philosopher Sam Keen is quoted as saying that “deep summer is when laziness meets respectability.” That is the excuse for the rather long wait you had before this site was updated, because just like most pupils, teachers too await the coming of summer vacation. It is the best time to unwind, [...]
