Health Lectures Held June 17

With the school year officially underway the incidence of airborne diseases dramatically increases. In a school setting where children are at close proximity to each other, one of the steps that SRBCL took this school year to mitigate said increase was educate its grade school populace of the different illnesses that they were most likely to contract in public places.
During the first week of classes, a Powerpoint lecture on AH1N1, Malaria and Dengue was given to the graders. They were made to understand the different illnesses, its symptoms and preventive measures. The graders showed much interest in the topic and were more than willing to follow the simple preventive measures that were enumerated for them like proper hand washing.
The next lecture that was scheduled for them is making them aware of the dangerous effects of smoking even to children like them who are non- smokers but are exposed to second hand smoke. The graphic pictures of diseased lungs was more than enough to have the children swear not even to try smoking or to be more vigilant of people who smoking in prohibited places like schools and malls.
